Aragorn's Guide to Wintering
How to take full advantage of the (winter) season.
It’s been happening every December. I always hear my hooman marveling about how well I seem to enjoy this darkest month of the year. I always hear her exclaiming things like „Wow, Aragorn really knows how to enjoy the Advent season!“
Well. Yes. I do. Same as I know how to enjoy every season. But this one is my favorite. And to be fair, the easiest to enjoy of them all because it has been made for sleeping. And if we cats are real masters at anything then it's sleeping.
But for some reason, out of all seasons, hoomans seem to particularly struggle with this one. Instead of slowing down and taking all the beautiful rest this time of year has to offer, they seem to reach new levels of rush. Why, that is beyond me. Naturally, struggling more than ever, because they’re just so out of tune with the season and themselves. Seriously, sometimes it seems they consider themselves to be creatures who possess some superpowers… but honestly, their only superpower seems to be their unlimited ability to never learn from their mistakes.
That said, since I am the generous and well-meaning cat I am, I thought I would offer some advice for all mankind on how to enjoy the winter season fully. Consider it my Christmas gift.
It really is simple. Just follow the steps below.
Stop doing everything that your life doesn’t depend on. Seek nourishing peaceful activities. Those include:
Long naps – don’t resist them, they’re extra delicious at this time of year. Especially with all the twinkling lights around. You don’t even have to sleep, just close your eyes for a moment and rest. Don’t resist the lust for sleep though, winter was made for it! Just look around you. And be more like your cat. Surrender to it FULLY. Don't fight it and give it your all. Radiate pleasure while you do so – not only it will feel good to you, but it is also infectious so you'll actually be helping those around you
Generally, as mentioned before, don’t put too much on your plate – unless it’s food of course, because you need to make some reasonable supplies at this time of year, cause winter is long. And the better you prepare, the better (and longer) the rest (and less time you spend getting up to eat).
Make sure you digest properly in a stress-free environment. Rest or nap while you do so.
Keep close to soft blankets - they can be extra comforting at this time of year - and to your loved ones.
While your eyes are closed, dream of all the things you can do once winter is over – but don’t overthink it! All this should feel pleasurable, no stress is allowed.
So there you go! It’s really simple: nap, rest, digest, and visualize. Then repeat.
You’re welcome! Now go and apply it this Christmas and throughout the rest of winter.
Merry Christmas lovely hoomans!
Merry Christmas, Aragorn!
